Gold or Platinum MasterCard w/Rewards, 3x Warranties, 2 Years w/No Fees & More for Select Students

Forum members deal_king and Jon Lai alerts us to a pretty interesting credit card offer from the National Bank of Canada. Students and graduates in select streams (engineering, healthcare, nursing, notary, accounting, Quebec law students and students at HEC Montreal) can get the National Bank Mastercard Ovation Gold or Platinum Card (depending on your stream) at no charge for 2 years. As part of the financial package, students also receive a no-fee chequing account and access to a student line of credit.

The MasterCards have some pretty good perks. The NBC Ovation Gold Mastercard gives you 1.25 reward points for each dollar spent (which can be redeemed for trips, gifts, movie and show tickets etc), extended warranties on purchases that triple manufacturer warranties (up to 2 additional years), car rental insurance, travel insurance, and more.

If you qualify for the NBC Ovation Platinum Mastercard, things are even better. Among other things, it gets 1.5 reward points for reach dollar spent, the ability to redeem points for many travel services, and more robust travel insurance coverage/options (such as Out-of-Province-of-Residence Medical/Hospital Insurance for up to 60 days for persons aged 54 and under).

Normally, the Gold and Platinum cards have annual fees of $90 and $125 per year respectively. With no fees for 2 years, and especially if you can use some of card features, these are definitely some appealing options for some students out there. If these cards aren’t what you’re looking for, the RedFlagDeals.com Credit Card Comparison Tool might help you find your ideal card.

Get up to $250 for Opening a Personal/Small Business TD Account

TD Canada Trust wants small business and individual customers to bank with them. If you’re willing, they’re offering a cash bonus of up to $250 when you sign up and meet certain requirements before December 31st, 2009. A detailed list with a handy table can be found on TD Canada Trust’s site here. In short, to get the maximum $250, individuals will need to sign up for an Infinity or Select Service Account AND one of the following TD credit cards (links go to the the CreditCards.RedFlagDeals.com where we’ve broken out the features and benefits):
