BOSS Orange Sample & Something Else Arrived

March 16th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Giveaways, freebies

The Hugo Boss Orange sample arrived today. I like it, it reminded me of the Escada Marine Groove sample, probably because they are both sweet-smelling. The fragrance definitely seemed better after wearing it for a while. This sample is still available to quite a few countries, so worth checking out.

The other item will have to speak for itself, so let the picture below paint one word for you.

Stylish Sony VAIO P Netbook $550 only 1.4lbs w/8” LCD, Windows 7

March 13th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in RedFlagDeals

There’s not many 1.4lb netbooks around and even fewer that go on sale. SonyStyle.ca has cut the price of the Sony VAIO P to just $599.99 from the previous $799.99 price, which itself was reduced from $999.99. Add the $50 off $500 SonyStyle.ca coupon code, CJFMPLC50, that expires on March 31st you’re under $550 with free shipping included. The specs are very similar to the typical netbooks with few additional features:

  • Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor
  • Windows Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit Bilingual
  • 8″ LED backlit LCD w/1600×768 resolution
  • 2GB memory
  • 80GB 4200RPM hard drive
  • Memory Stick Duo, MMC, SD card reader
  • Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500
  • 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Motion Eye camera and microphone

The killer feature though is really it’s size. It weighs only 1.4lbs and measures just 9.7 inches by 0.8 inches by 4.8 inches. Sony shows people stuffing it in their pocket but that’s probably not very likely unless you’ve got huge pockets. Still, this is small and very light and the price is reasonable for what you’re getting – a tiny, stylish, high-resolution netbook.

1-Day Only @ FutureShop: Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse (Revision 2) $36.99

FutureShop.ca is currently running a “deal of the day” style promotion. The offers for the first couple of days were pretty tame, but things seem to be picking up. Yesterday, there was a good Canon XSi DSLR bundle, and today, there’s a good deal on a gaming mouse. The Logitech Laser Gaming Mouse (Revision 2) is $36.99. We haven’t seen this mouse for less than $40 in over a year. It’s not the newest mouse in Logitech’s product lineup, but Logitech hasn’t deviated from this basic design in a very long time.

The second revision adds a another thumb button, textured grip, “beefed up” scroll wheel, and other cosmetic changes while maintaining the 2000DPI performance of the original G5. It’s got a proven track record and there aren’t many comparable gaming mice at this price point, so we’d say this is a good deal.

Free shipping kicks in on orders of at least $39, so it’s probably worth finding a small filler item or getting a second one as a spare!

Newegg Shellshocker: OCZ Vertex 2.5” 30GB SATA II MLC Internal SSD $119.99 + $40 USD Mail in Rebate

Newegg.ca’s has an interesting Shell Shocker offer for anyone who has been trying to find an SSD deal. The OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX30GXXX 2.5″ 30GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) – Retail is $119.99 before a $40 USD mail in rebate. Shipping is about $10, which is a little more than we normally see for Shell Shocker deals, but this is still the best price around for this OCZ SSD. Check with PriceCanada.com to see what other retailers sell this for. Note that the rebate comes in the form of a Visa Prepaid card.

With 272 user reviews at Newegg, the Vertex 30GB has an average rating of 5/5. 30GB isn’t a huge amount of space nowadays, but it should be sufficient for your operating system and any programs you want extremely fast access to.

Seeing as it’s Monday, this is the first of 2 Shell Shocker items. The second will appear at 4PM eastern time, replacing this offer.

The Jelly Beans Are Here

March 8th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Freebies Received, freebies

This is exactly how they arrived, in clear packaging. It always makes me wonder when freebies are packaged like this. This package is screaming “take me”, no one is going to care about a pack of free jelly beans anyway. Rant aside, there’s lots of orange ones which is a plus and they taste good, even the black ones are nice. This offer is has now expired, it didn’t last long.

Dell March Madness: Pentium Dual-Core E6500 2.93GHz Vostro PCs $379, 18.5” LCD $99 & More

Dell Small Business continues to push out some good deals! Right now, they’re holding a March Madness Event with a nice mix of items. There are items under $100, items under $200, and items under $400. Here are some highlights:

Under $100

Under $200

Under $400

There are a lot of good deals here to cover basic computing needs. The Vostro Desktop PCs are well equipped for the price tag and will do nicely for many everyday users and for a lot of businesses. There are also matching inexpensive monitors here, so you can have a full desktop PC with monitor for under $500. While you’re at it, you might also add a basic UPS (the Cyberpowr 550VA model for $39.99) to protect your work in the event of a power outage.

Elsewhere, the Blue Snowball Microphone for $55 is hot! Amazon.ca selling them for about $80 and that was considered pretty good — this is obviously a much better price! This is a professional quality (or professional-amateur at least) microphone that connects via USB. If you do any kind of recordings (podcasts, singing, or instrumental), this microphone should be a big improvement over normal consumer choices.

Shipping is free for everything besides the PowerEdge server.
