$0.99 Smartphones including Blackberry Bold on a 3-Year Rogers Contract

We’re not entirely sure at this point, but it looks like this could be the Rogers Wireless Boxing Week promotion. Right now you can pick up a number of select Rogers smartphones for only $0.99 on a 3-year Rogers contract with select plans. The plans basically all require a data plan of some sort, but if you’re buying a smartphone, you’d probably need one anyways. The phones included in the promotion are:

  • Nokia N86 8MP – $0.99
  • Sony Ericsson X1 – $0.99
  • HTC Magic – $0.99
  • BlackBerry Bold 9000 White – $0.99
  • LG Eve – $0.99 (currently out of stock)

The 3-year contract is probably the biggest barrier for this one. There’s a lot of competition on the horizon and prices across the board are expected to fall. That being said, even the new competitors will have to lock you into some type of contract to subsidize their phones to this level.

$5, $10 or $500 Nintendo Game Cash Inside Kellogg’s Cereal

August 2nd, 2009 1 Comment   Posted in RedFlagDeals
Nintendo and Kellogg's have teamed up to save you a bit of money on video games during the back to school season. Inside specially marked boxes of Kellogg's cereal including Rice Krispies, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Mini-Wheats, and Corn Pops you'll find a $5 or $10 Nintendo game cash coupon inside the box. The Nintendo game cash can be used towards the purchase of any Nintendo product at participating retailers including Wal-Mart, Loblaws, Future Shop, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Zellers, EB Games, Rogers Video, and HMV. If you're really lucky, it could be a $500 Visa gift card as well, but the majority of the 300,100 boxes with the game cash will contain a $5 coupon valid until April 27th, 2010.

Cereal is often on sale at about $3 per box so the value of the coupon more than covers the cost of the the cereal. That essentially means you end up with some free cereal, a discount on a Nintendo product valid all the way to next April, and a chance to win thrown in for good measure.

Rogers & Fido: Refreshed iPhone 3G 8GB for $49 or 16GB for $99 on 3-Year Term + Data Plan

July 7th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in RedFlagDeals
If you've been waiting for a low price point to pick up an iPhone, Rogers and Fido might have what you're looking for. With a 3-year agreement and a data plan, you can get "refreshed" or "encore" 3G iPhones at considerable discounts (8GB models for $49.00, and 16GB models for $99.00).

What do refreshed or encore mean you ask? Essentially, these are unused or very lightly used iPhones that have been returned. Fido offers "refreshed" iPhones, which are phones that have been returned within 15 days from the date of activation. Rogers offers "encore" phones, which are phones returned within a 30 day warranty period. In both cases, the phones are either unused or used lightly and must still pass rigorous final Quality Assurance testing before their sale.
